@ The Kickstand. Orlando, Florida. Saturday October 3, 2009.
Review, video and pictures by Jeffrey Howard.

My review skills will be lacking for this. I was keeping in line with the theme of being trashed and bashing things so for anything I can remember after the second band is questionable. I have only these pictures and video to piece things together. I don't even have pictures of all the bands. Where was my head?

Night two was held at The Kickstand, which is a big warehouse space that houses bike repairs by day and punk venue at night. It's a pretty cool place. Meg Thornton prepared a ton of food for everyone including mounds of spaghetti, popcorn, and carrots. Oh, the carrots! Though tonight there would be no bathrooms. I'm sure this was going to be a problem because there was a ton of alcohol everywhere in sight. Oh no! Let's get going!

Tallahassee's Boss Fight are a three guitar rock and roll assault. They could be described as being a surfy rock band. All three of their guitar players rip and have more guitar skills than most of the current crop of indie/reverb/surf bands. All the guys sing (including the drummer) lead on different songs. The overall package is pretty impressive.

Hot Hands (Orlando) had to follow. Kristin and I were pretty drunk so I'm sure our talking was better than our playing. I hear we were entertaining. Haha. We played until my amp crapped out. This has been happening lately. I don't know what's up with my gear lately. "That's all you get!!!!"

Next were two Miami bands: Furious Dudes and Lil Daggers. I've never heard Furious Dudes but they wanted to get our "shit offstage". I guess they live up to their name? They were pretty aggressive rock and roll. It wasn't super great or anything. The bass player was really good. I think Lil Daggers were a little better than the first time I saw them a few months back. My mind may have been playing tricks on me but it seemed to be an entirely different band other than the singer.

I went outside to the parking lot. There were tons of people both inside and outside the Kickstand. The next thing I remember I hear Gemini Cricket playing. I didn't even know for how long. I run inside and watch this super cute Athens trio turn their pop act into a trash bash. Guitarist Blake spent a great deal of time jumping into the air, bouncing off the walls. They were joined by Waylon Thornton on vocals for a song and it was just mayhem (see video below). I love this band! They just released a new self released 7". Get it!

Also playing was Orlando's Go Ghosts, who have yet to play in their hometown, though their drummer Jay (Averkiou) is from Gainesville. They play great rocking acoustic guitar pop. They've since added a tambourine player and female backup vocalist. This is turning into an interesting band. Though it should be noted Tic's other band For Ex-Lovers Only is becoming active once again.

Libyan Hit Squad, also from Orlando, played a punked up set that ended up with lead singer/bassist Chachy pantsless and him throwing his bass into the Christmas lights above.

The last band to play was Alabama's Satan's Youth Ministers and they basically killed every band that played before them. Their band name is definitely attention getting- maybe a bit misleading. There's no Satanic messages or themes- even with the red flashing pentagram signs behind them. They're just a long haired southern rock band that sounds like the heavier moments of The Allman Brothers but with a big bearded singer who started the show out in a suit and tie and ended in a matching red panty/bra/fishnet combo. And don't forget the feathered boa and red eye makeup. They've mastered the teetering line between badassness and tongue in cheek humor.

I can't wait for next years Trash Bash already. This festival was awesome.
