Review, video and pictures by Jeffrey Howard.

First off, go ahead and scroll down to the last picture. It's why you came here. Do and and come back up to the top. Thanks.

This show was Mumpys member Chris Rae's annual birthday show which entails Chris Rae organizing the whole show, getting drunk and then passing out on stage. This year would be no different. Haha. This year there would be clowns running around. There's nothing more scary than clowns on your birthday.

On arrival Slaves was already playing on the second stage, which is in the back room of The Social. These guys get better with each show. They are lucky to have one of the areas most exciting drummers in Vivek. Vivek tears through skins like beavers through wood.

Back on the main stage was Titusville band Architects of Fear, who sported gaudy tuxedos and suits while playing autoharps and keytars. They were an odd bunch for sure. They venture into musical territory I am not an expert in - prog rock - yet they had a sense of pure giddiness to give it life.

Going back over to the second stage The Shreds were shredding it up. I like this band a lot- though it's obviously not to be taken too seriously. Those guys playing punk music is just funny in of itself. My favorites were "Jim the Landlord" and the theme song "The Shreds".

With stark contrast from the thrashing mosh pit of the Shreds were the cooling southern indie sounds of Tallahassee's Look Mexico. All that I've heard from them previously I wasn't into too much but the more and more they got into their set this night the more I was getting it. I was hearing something a little more straightforward kind of indie that I like. I'd say they were sounding a lot like Boston band Wheat, whom I love quite a bit. Look Mexico surprised me. They have a new record coming out on Suburban Home Records I just may have to give a listen.

Following back to the back room 1991 took over and the smaller room went wild. Bodies thrashed amidst balloon animals, hats and balloon cigarettes. Most managed not to get popped, miraculously. Good band. Watch the video below to see for yourself.

Then Chris Rae and the rest of Mumpsy began their set back on the main stage. They're tons of fun but the star was Chris Rae who began looking more and more confused- refusing shots and beers. Then he fell backwards and clowns began holding..... rather propping him back up. Quite a sight! Then he'd fall over again and instead of just getting back up remained on the floor with his guitar laying on his belly. The band did their last song, a Buzzcocks cover, and had a big rock and roll ending. Chris Rae must have missed it because he came to and realized he wasn't done yet. He called everyone back onstage for one more song which, well, he didn't finish that song either...... Happy Birthday Chris Rae!

Last to perform was Yip Yip, who were set up in this awkward box between the big room and the small room. As always, Yip Yip changes and still stay the same. I'm not ADD enough to really get into them but there are brief (and when I say brief I mean brief) moments when they are totally awesome. Remember when they would wear roller skates onstage?
