The night started off with new band The Golden Pelicans, with most of the members from Slippery Slopes (rip). Their sound doesn't stray too far from garage punk sound. It's a little more rock than their previous band, mostly due to the raw guitar sounds and slightly slower tempo songs. The snotty demeanor of front man Erik still comes through. No ones beer was safe up front of the stage. It ended up in either his mouth or sprayed into the audience.

The Woolly Bushmen gave a worthy performance of their brand of frat rock meets rockabilly worthy of high praise. That keyboard sound is the something to behold.

I never heard of Bloodshot Bill before. Evidently this is his first tour in America in five years since being banned from crossing the border from his home in Canada. He does an excellent one man rockabilly band thing. He also collaborates with King Khan in The Tandoori Knights as well as another band with Mark Sultan (aka BBQ). His solo set was pretty amazing. His playing and singing is undeniably some of the most expressive music I've witnessed in some time. Every nuance of his guitar playing - even if you take out the extremes like doing slides with his arms- did not unnoticed. His singing style was the same way from snorts, howls and the sly side comments he'd slip in alongside the lyrics. Pretty great.

Lastly King Khan joined Bloodshot Bill to be The Tandoori Knights with a backup band consisting of a drummer and upright bassist. Somehow Florida legend Nadeem Khan (no relation to King Khan) got the call to join the band on bass for this three week tour. The band was top notch, of course. It was fun, even if a fight or two broke out. A bartender dressed as Batman broke it up and threw people out. Downtown Orlando is full of super heroes, evidently.
