Review and photos by Jeffrey Howard.

Went to a party at the Orlandooom guys house called The Swamp House all the way out past UCF, all to see the first Orlando show by Holly Hunt. They have a three level house and had a little room on the ground floor level where the bands would play. Kristin and I arrived what we thought was late but, yeah, in grand tradition we were waaaaay early for anything to start. It also doubled as a Halloween Party so I dressed up like a cowboy and Kristin was the devil (no, that was her costume- haha).

After hanging out for a while the first band started up. It was Demons, the band I wrote about recently. They were a little better compared to the show at Wills Pub. Maybe it was the closer proximity to the band that made it better. The singer had on a super skin tight costume that even covered his head. It was pretty scary looking! The costume would come off eventually (at least the top half) because it was getting hot in the room.

Holly Hunt is a super heavy duo from Miami of guitarist Gavin Perry and drummer Beatriz Monteavaro. They don't mess around and get straight to the point: total annihilation of the eardrum. No vocals- just the chemistry of volume and slow crushing riffs and metalistic drone. Seriously, totally awesome. There's an interview with Holly Hunt about their gear at The Heat Lightning which is worth the read for gear geeks.
