Here are three cool Orlando bands that didn't make the article on Paste Magazine this week but should have. Sloppy Kisses are Total Phase Pop (I just made that up) lead by one of the area's most interesting vocalist in that of Anna Wallace. Their music is a playful adult playground and I can't get enough playtime. Dark Sixties are a new surf band- but that may come off as a misnomer as they have a lot going on in their music from jazz beats to full on spastic rock. Room Full of Strangers may be the dark horse of the Orlando scene (you can include Kitty Pryde being in the same boat. LOL.). Musically and sonically they have their shit together. What on the surface seems as a gimmick quickly reveals itself as something with substance. When these three bands of totally different styles can come together at one show........ rad.
Missing the point were a multitude of people outside; not inside watching three fine examples on what is good and unique about the Orlando scene (at a free show, no less). I won't complain about such behavior. People have choices. I've made mine: I'll be inside listening to the music.
Like Kristin said after we played a DJ set of all soul songs "No one's dancing? This is Joe Tex. What's your problem???"
